Weather club

The weather club is organized by Mr.O’connor , and this club is organized for measuring the the precipitation and climates in my school. The global warming is becoming a serious issue, and the average climate of the globe is rising. For proving that, the weather club is measuring the temperature of our school and then we compare it to the average climate of Russia.
Every day at 11 o’clock we measure the maximum and minimum temperature, temperature, precipitation, air pressure and clouds. We record it at the same time every day because if we do it at different time the result is not going to be accurate.
By doing this activity there are some learning out comes.

I had shown perseverance and commitment in my activity. Because this work is not finished just for several times, this work should be done through the whole year. Also I am developing new skills by using unfamiliar equipment, such as the max/min thermometer, the barometer and the rain gauge.
Also, I had engaged with issues of global importance.  Because We are doing this project because of the gobal warming.

visiting tolstoy's house

On october 20th 2011, I visited the tolstoy's house. Tolstoy is a very famous writter in the world. It was a very good chance to visit his house and  see his desks and chairs that he used 200 years ago. The house is located in tula which is quite far away from the moscow, therefore I needed to leave early. I woke up at 7 o'clock and prepared everything for going there and I met my friends before I went there. It took almost 3hours to go there, me and my friends ate the lunch and we bought the ticket at 2:00 p.m .

We could not enter the house with out a guide, so we paid money for the guide and we traveled as a group of 15. Actually, I'm not good at russian but the guide could only speak russian, so it was quite hard to understand russian. But one of my friends was good at russian and she translated it for me. The grave of tolstoy was quite small and too simple. There was no decoration or something.

There were some learning outcomes from this activity. First, It was my first time to understand the explanation of guide in russian so I can say that I had undertaken new challenges, also I have planned and initiated activities.

International day 2011

14th of oct 2011 was my third internaional day since I came to the british international school of moscow. The international day is one of the biggest event in my school. Students wear their own traditional clothes and we have lunch with foods that students brought. IB students were supposed to prepare activities for students in my school. So koreans in my year group decided to teach students how to make kimbab.

My group was organised with 4 korean IB students. we came to school before the school starts and we set up everything . At 9:40, year 11 students came to our class. I was so nervous because it was my first time to prepare activities for students in my school. We asked students to wash their hands before they come to our class. First of all, I explained them how to make kimbab. I demonstrated infront of them and it was quite successful. Other korean students in my group gave the ingredients to the students and they started to make it. We helped them to make kimbab and it was successful.

I can say that I undertakennew challenges and increased my awareness of my own strengths and areas fo growth. Also I planned and initiated activites with my classmates in my group. Also I worked collaboratively with others to help students to make kimbab.

Learning how to make kimbab

I learned how to make a kimbab to prepare international day. IB students were supposed to prepare some activities for students in our school . Korean students in my class decided to teach students how to make kimbab. So I learned how to make it before I go to the school on international day.

My mother teached me how to make kimbab. It was difficult than I thought and there were so many things to prepare. For the ingredients, I needed kim, rice, bal ( which needs for rolling the kimbab), cucumber, danmuji (asian pickle) , odeng( dried fish),ham, egg and tuna. For making kimbab , first I had to put 'kim' on the bal and spread the rice on the 'kim'. And then I needed to put ingredients one by one and roll it. I had to be careful because the kimbab could explode if I dont do it right way.

By this activity, I Undertaken new challenge. And also there were so many things to prepare for international day so I can say that I planned an initiated activites.  Also I developed my new skills
